Beaver Trail Setup
This past summer I set-up some of my MI Scouting cams on a few different beaver trails and was very successful in capturing images of several wildlife species including beaver, muskrat, raccoon, skunk, Franklin’s ground squirrel, thirteen-lined ground squirrel, voles, American bittern, sora rail, Virginia rail, American coot, mallard broods, blue-winged teal broods and ruddy duck.

Since the "subjects" were fairly small, I had to set the camera up accordingly, and had it set only a couple inches off the ground. I used an adjustable camera mount, which was ideal for this kind of set-up. In some cases I placed some trapping scents/attractants, to get the animals to stop briefly in front of the camera. The whole set-up worked very well, and I know for sure I’ll be targeting beaver trails again next summer!
